A daylong celebration of Rashid Johnson’s two major installations—Sanguine and Rotunda Stage—before Rashid Johnson: A Poem for Deep Thinkers encompasses live music, spoken word, and poetry from performers of all ages that honor the exhibition’s powerful themes of identity, healing, and community.

Start the day with a participatory workshop in collective poetry, where visitors are invited to contribute their own poems to a shared visual work, open to audiences of all ages.

Next, experience an intergenerational ensemble performance inspired by the exhibition, followed by a series of piano presentations within Sanguine, featuring emerging talents from students and professional pianists.

The day ends on Rotunda Stage with a dynamic teen poetry slam—an electrifying showcase of voice and creativity, complete with cash prizes.

The Big Apple is home to several world-famous ballet institutions, including the renowned New York City Ballet. Housed at the David H. Koch Theater in Lincoln Center, NYCB was founded by renowned choreographer George Balanchine and arts patron Lincoln Kirstein in 1948.

My family and I recently attended the New York City Ballet’s Family Saturdays program, an interactive one-hour presentation designed for kids ages 5 and up. It was the perfect entrypoint to live ballet for my budding ballerina.
